# How can I configure SMTP authentication in Microsoft without admin privileges?

## Is it possible to enable SMTP Auth in Office 365 without admin access? Can I enable SMTP Authentication without admin access?

Enabling **SMTP Authentication** in Microsoft 365 or Office 365 **requires administrator access and cannot be done by individual users**. If you need SMTP Authentication for Investor Matching or another application, contact your administrator and ask them to enable it for your mailbox.

If you're using a **custom email domain** (such as *you@yourcompany.com*), you'll most likely need to **contact your email provider** as they typically manage your organization's email settings. Since SMTP Authentication can pose security risks, many providers disable it by default and require an administrator to enable it.
