# How do I generate an app password for Yahoo Mail?

## How do I connect my Yahoo email to Investor Matching with 2FA enabled? Why do I need a different password for Yahoo email setup in Investor Matching?

You must have **Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)** enabled on your Yahoo account before you can generate an app password. Once 2FA is enabled, you can generate an app password to connect your Yahoo email to Investor Matching. 

An app password is a 16-character code generated by Yahoo that allows Investor Matching to connect to your email without using your regular Yahoo account password.

#### How to Generate a Yahoo App Password

1. Sign in to your [**Yahoo Account Security**](https://login.yahoo.com/account/security?.lang=en-US&.intl=us&.src=yhelp) page.
2. Under **External connections**, click **Create app password**.
3. Enter an app name, such as **Investor Matching**.
4. Click **Generate password**.
5. Copy the **16-character app password** provided by Yahoo.
6. Use this password when connecting your Yahoo email to Investor Matching.

#### What Should I Enter in Investor Matching?

When connecting your Yahoo email:

- Enter your regular Yahoo email address.
- Enter the **16-character app password** instead of your normal Yahoo password.

**Note:** Do not use your regular Yahoo account password when an app password is required.
