# Can I message someone I’m matched with directly?

## Does the platform allow direct messaging between matched members? Am I able to send a direct message to another matched member?

On Startups, the "Send a Message" feature allows you to initiate direct communication with other members, such as potential collaborators, mentors, or advisors.

Here's how it typically works:​

1. **Initiating a Message**: Navigate to the profile of the member you'd like to contact. Look for a messaging option, often represented by an envelope icon or a "Send a Message" button.
2. **Composing Your Message**: Clicking the messaging option will open a text box where you can type your personalized message. This is your opportunity to introduce yourself, explain why you're reaching out, and suggest any next steps.
3. **Sending and Receiving Messages**: After composing your message, send it through the platform. The recipient will receive a notification and can respond directly within Startups messaging system.
