Can I send messages to investors without a pitch deck?
Do I need to upload a pitch deck before sending messages to investors? Do I really need a pitch deck before I start messaging investors?
It’s recommended to upload your pitch deck before starting investor outreach on Startups.com, as it helps the platform generate stronger, more personalized messages and match you with the most relevant investors.
When you upload a pitch deck (PDF, PPT, DOC, or TXT), the system uses AI to create outreach emails, structure your messaging, and improve investor targeting—giving you a better chance of getting responses.
If you don’t have a pitch deck, you can still use the platform. Simply fill out the sections in the Pitch Builder (such as company details, pitch, traction, and funding ask), and the system will generate your outreach message based on that information.
You can also choose to manually edit or write your message, allowing you to send investor outreach even without uploading a pitch deck.
Preparing your materials—either by uploading a deck or completing the Pitch Builder—will help you get the best results from your outreach.
