Legacy A Record Instructions: Redirectig Your Base Domain

This DNS article only applies to accounts created BEFORE November 10, 2012

You edit an A record with your domain host, not with LaunchRock. Your A Record is also known as your base domain.

  1. Sign in to your account at your domain host's website and go to the site's DNS management page (which might also be called something Name Server Management)

  2. You might have to enable advanced settings for your account to access this page.  For help, contact your domain host directly

  3. Create your new A record by entering a Host Name/Alias and Value/Destination (the exact terms may vary by host) as shown below.
Host Name/Alias: many times this should be "@" and might already exist.
    Value/Destination: 50.17.236.4

Please Note: Once you do this, your A Record point to LaunchRock. However, changes to your DNS settings can take up to 72 hours to propagate throughout the Internet. This is not the result of a LaunchRock error.

If you need further assistance configuring your A Record, you can check out a sample message here to use when contacting your domain host for further assistance.
